De Montfort University and 7Safe have partnered to offer a Masters degree entitled Professional Practice in Digital Forensics and Security. To be awarded this certification, delegates are required to attend seven training courses, pass the accompanying CSTA, CSTP, CWSA, CFIP, CMI, CSIS and CIIP examinations and successfully complete written assignments set by the univeristy.

Delegates are also required to complete an Independant Study Module and an MSc Project/Dissertation. The diagram below shows the courses delegates will need to successfully complete and the resulting qualifications they will be awarded:

MSc - Master of Science in Computer Security and Forensics CSTA CWSA CSTP CFIP CMI CIIP CSIS


To earn the CSTA, CSTP, CWSA, CFIP, CMI, CSIS or CIIP certificate, delegates are required to attend the relevant training course and successfully complete an examination.

The pass mark for the CSTA, CSTP, CWSA, CFIP, CMI, CSIS and CIIP examinations is 50% with Merit and Distinction grades awarded for marks above 65% and 80%, respectively.

On successful completion of these courses, you are then eligible to apply to De Montfort University, for an academic assessment by distance learning. Taking the course in this way is normally a part-time pathway and you should expect to study for a minimum of two years and a maximum of six years.
