Meet our cyber experts at Infosec 2017 to discuss cyber incident response

                         Infosecurity

Infosecurity Europe, Olympia, London - 06-08 June 2017.

Following on from last year's success, PA Consulting Group and 7Safe will be exhibiting at Infosecurity Europe 2017 (stand A170) in London on 06-08 June 2017. It is the region's number one information security event, featuring Europe's largest and most comprehensive conference programme and over 360 exhibitors.

This year, PA and 7Safe's three key cyber security themes for Infosec 2017 will be:

European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The GDPR brings in major changes from the current Data Protection Act, including a fundamental change to the way organisations manage personal data. Our GDPR experts will be delivering bite-sized sessions on the stand around the practical steps your organisation can take to start GDPR planning and preparations.

Building and developing Security Operations Centres (SOCs)
A leading security operations centre (SOC) is not something that springs into existence overnight, no matter what resources are applied to the task: rather, it develops in phases. Our experts can help you create a plan for the phases of implementation - an essential element in achieving success.

Cyber Security Incident Response (CSIR)
Most organisations need professional help in responding to a cyber security incident in a fast, effective manner. Our qualified and experience CSIR consultants can help your organisation handle cyber security incidents in a more effective and appropriate manner – particularly serious cyber attacks.

A talk by one of PA Consulting’s 7Safe cyber experts, Steve Shepherd MBE, has been accepted as a Tech Talk following review by an Advisory Committee. The talk titled ‘Malware Red Alert: the First 24 Hours’ will take place on Wednesday 7th June 2017 at 13.20-13.45 and address how outsourcing is key to cyber threat response.

Steve explains the rationale behind sourcing qualified outside assistance before the crisis happens: “When an organisation has been attacked, its most immediate concerns are likely to be: - What action needs to be taken? And, - Who has the proven knowledge and experience required to contain and eradicate the incident? Needless to say, a malicious hacker will not be waiting around while the attack is in progress to give your cyber security team the opportunity to answer these key questions.

“Based on 7Safe’s experience of cyber incident response using the 3-Phase CREST Model for CSIR as a guide, his Tech Talk will invite the Infosec 2017 audience to think about and act on the following:

1.     Evaluate the role of technology in the first 24 hours;
2.     Learn what action needs to be taken in the event of a malware attack;
3.     Discover how to decide who has the proven knowledge and information to tackle the incident.”
